In the first week we had a guest lecture from Jacques Gramser, director/partner of GBO Innovation makers.
GBO Innovation makers is a company that was founded by Jacques Gramser, Erwin Boes and Jeroen op ten Berg in 1989. The company has been growing to locations in Helmond, Antwerp and Hong Kong. They develop and realise products for their clients from 3 services:
Graphics & Brand Communication
Design & Product Engineering
Projects & Full Service Development
Their mission is to help businesses creating lasting value with innovative products that connect people to brands.
In his presentation he showed us that they work for many different clients in different fields. From customizing a car like the Rioned – Urban Combi, to developing toys like Twickto.
At GBO they use 3D-Printing for making test models and marketing models. They let their target buyers test the models. If they don’t like it there is no market and it is not fundable to make the product.
Throughout the presentation he gave us some tips:
Don’t leave good ideas behind.
Start at the end.
When developing a new product you have to divide retail by two and multiply time by two.
Use sketches for quick communication.
Use 3D models for quick communication.
